Lycoris Recoil is getting a new anime

Chika Anzai (voice of Chisato Nishikigi), Shion Wakayama (voice of Takina Inoue), Ami Koshimizu (voice of Mizuki Nakahara), Misaki Kuno (voice of Kurumi), and other celebrities attended the Lycoris Recoil franchise's special event on February 11 in Japan, as was previously reported.

It was already anticipated that there would be a significant announcement for the franchise given the significance of the occasion, and there was one. Lycoris Recoil's new anime project will be produced; however, the announcement did not say if it will be a movie, an OVA, or a second season. Fans will therefore have to wait until a later date for further information, but it should be a relief to know that "the story is not over."

The thirteen-episode anime series had its Japanese premiere on July 2 of last year, and the Crunchyroll website handled its distribution in the West. With each successive release, it swiftly surpassed 20,000 copies sold, making it one of the most lucrative franchises in the physical sales market. It also became the series with the highest cumulative first-week sales for the full year 2022.

• The anime is being directed by Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online, working!) at A-1 Pictures Studios.
• Character creation is the responsibility of Muru Imigi (Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!, Create Heroine ga Oosugiru!).
• The original story was handled by Asaura (Ben-To, TiN-So: Kimi ga Te ni Suru Ore no Ex Machina, Eiyuu Toshi no Bakadomo).
• The uniform was created by Kimika Onai (costume design for Nogizaka 46 and Sakurazaka 46).

Lycoris Recoil Synopsis

According to a group called Direct Attack, there have never been fewer terrorist attacks in Japan (DA). In its "Lycoris" program, the group trains orphan girls to carry out assassinations. Takina Inoue is a remarkable Lycoris, possessing a strong sense of will and a preference for excellence. Sadly, she loses patience during a hostage scenario, and as a result of her act of disobedience, she is removed from the DA. She is not happy to leave the only place she has ever felt at home, but she unwillingly makes her way to her new base of operations, LycoReco, which is actually a cafeteria.

Takina's new partner, however, is completely different from what she had anticipated. Chisato Nishikigi, Lycoris' renowned prodigy, appears to be hardly concerned with her responsibilities. She forces Takina to perform a variety of odd chores under the pretense of aiding those in need. As Chisato defeats a group of armed thieves without murdering a single one of them, Takina is even more perplexed. Takina, who feels like a fish out of water, is desperate to re-join the DA, but Chisato wants to show her that life is more than just being taken.
