"Date A Live" generates excitement with a teaser for its fifth season

The official website for the anime adaptation of Koshi Tachibana's light novels, illustrated by Tsunako, known as "Date A Live," unveiled the first promotional video for the fifth season of the series. The video confirms that the premiere is slated for April in Japan. Furthermore, it reveals that this new season will consist of twelve episodes and offers a glimpse of the musical themes featured in the series.

Additionally, it provides a glimpse of the musical themes, featuring Miyu Tomita performing the opening theme "Paradoxes," and Sweet Arms performing the ending theme "Hitohira."

The fourth season was initially set to debut in the Fall 2021 season (October-December) but was postponed until Spring 2022 (April-June) due to "various production circumstances," with Crunchyroll managing its distribution in the West. Meanwhile, Koushi Tachibana and Tsunako released the original light novels through the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint of Fujimi Shobo from March 2011 to March 2020, totaling twenty-two volumes.

Synopsis of Date A Live

Thirty years ago, a peculiar phenomenon known as the Spacequake devastated the heart of Eurasia, claiming the lives of over 150 million people. Since then, minor spacequakes have been occurring worldwide. Shidou Itsuka, an ostensibly ordinary high school student, encounters a girl at the epicenter of one such spacequake.

Informed by his sister Kotori that this girl is one of the spirits responsible for causing these spacequakes upon appearing in the world, Shidou learns that his sister is the captain of the Ratatoskr ship. She recruits him to utilize his mysterious ability to seal the powers of these spirits, thereby averting any threat to humanity. However, there's a twist: in order to seal a Spirit's powers, Shidou must make them fall in love with him.
